May Marshall Brown, born Mary Brown Robertson, was the daughter of an Edinburgh wine merchant William Robertson.  She married the artist William Marshall Brown RSA, RSW, who was 24 years her senior in 1912.  Their home was at 41 York Place, Edinburgh.  May Marshall Brown painted watercolours of fishing villages and boats.  She spent some summers in Kirkcudbright with Anna Hotchkis and others.
