Exhibited at Royal Scottish Academy from Dock House, Dumfries, 1880.  After a period in London returned to Dumfries, where he was art master at the Benedictine Convent in Maxwelltown. Lived at Beeswing.  He exhibited from Fernlea, Dumfries from 1887 to 1902.
