Sunrise in Galloway

Artist: Ian Fleming
Title: Sunrise in Galloway
Date: 1929
Medium: Ink on paper
Description:

17.7 x 22.4 cm

Best known for his etchings, the fine ink drawing Sunrise in Galloway may be a unique link with the area.  As with many artists Fleming uses the Galloway dyke to create a strong feature cutting across the drawing.  The timeless quality of the work is brought up to the period with the depiction of fencing and telephone poles and wires. It would be interesting to know whether there are other works by Fleming depicting this part of Scotland.
