Born in Inverness in 1945 but was brought up in London.  He attended drawing classes at the Croydon College of Art Before embarking on a career as a cabinet maker.

 

He moved with his wife and daughter to Newton Stewart in 1988 and began painting scenes of Dumfries and Galloway.  He had just completed a series of paintings of the Lake District and North Yorkshire before he died in June 2007.
