Husband of Dorothy L Sayers.  Friend of Hamish Paterson, with whom he probably first came to Gatehouse before his marriage to Dorothy L Sayers in 1926.  They were certainly in Gatehouse in 1928 and 1929, the year they took 14a High Street in Kirkcudbright.  The Five Red Herrings by Dorothy L Sayers is based on the artists in Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse who they knew.
