Visitor Facilities: Access for people with disabilities The gallery has ramped wheelchair access; there are lifts to the upper floor. The education suite also has full wheelchair access and there is a specially adapted toilet.
The Rex Makin Lecture Theatre has been fitted with an induction loop and space for wheelchairs. It is advisable to phone in advance in order to use these facilities (0151 478 4178/4173).
Disabled parking spaces are approximately 100 metres from the gallery in William Brown Street.
Two wheelchairs are available for visitor use.
Transcripts of most audio tapes and videos are available for hearing impaired visitors.
Guide and hearing dogs are welcome.
Large print versions of labels in the medieval, Renaissance and 17th century galleries are available in book form for use in the gallery.
There is a large print menu and table service available in the cafe.
Walker Art Gallery cafe and shop
The excellent cafe and gallery shop provide the ideal setting to relax and pick up a souvenir. The cafe offers a selection of open sandwiches, salads, cakes and refreshments. The shop stocks a range of books, postcards, prints and souvenirs, including crafts and jewellery. |
